    Western Colorado’s biggest winter celebration begins this Saturday, February 9, 2013. Ski Spree winter celebration will be held in Glenwood Springs, as Sunlight Mountain Resort invites everyone to a weekend full of fun, where locals and visitors alike can to join together in festivities that make winter in Colorado special.

    On Saturday afternoon, a Rail Jam at 1:00 p.m. will kick off the day in the park at Sunlight Mountain Resort. There will be great prizes to win and a great session for all. Guests can register online at www.sunlightmtn.com or in the lodge from 9 – 10 a.m. on Saturday morning for only $10.

    The ever-famous annual Chili Cook-Off begins at 4:00 p.m. Thirty contestants from the best restaurants, as well as individual entries, will be cooking it up to compete for the title of Best Chili. Proceeds from entries go to a scholarship fund for Glenwood Springs High School. Attendees can purchase wristbands at ANB Bank, Sunlight Ski & Bike Shop and Sunlight Mountain Resort for only $10. Guests can show their wristband at the Glenwood Hot Springs Pool on Saturday Feb 9th or Sunday Feb 10th to get half off the entry fee.

    The Missing Link band will be jammin’ in the lodge all afternoon and evening, and the Sunlight torch light parade and fireworks will inspire oohs and ahhs at dusk.

    The festivities continue with a “Need-4-Speed” competition down the face of Joslin on Sunday at 11 a.m. Known for reaching up to 80 MPH, competitors race down the mountain competing for the fastest speed. Bring long skis and a favorite racing outfit to vie for the title of fastest skier or boarder.  The event begins at 11 a.m. and registration begins in the lodge at 9 a.m. The entry fee is $15. Guests can register online prior to the event at www.sunlightmtn.com.
