There are few experiences in life that can match the sheer exhilaration of simply strolling the Las Vegas Strip. The neon, the stunning architecture, the people-watching, the non-stop revelry.

Recently, we spotted a mode of transport on The Strip in front of Caesars Palace which could very well change the way The Strip gets experienced. Behold, the Solowheel.

It’s a “gyro-stabilized electric unicycle,” along the lines of a Segway, but much more compact and dramatically less expensive. (A new Segway is about $6,500, a Solowheel is $1,800 new or $1,400, refurbished.)

How much fun would it be to zip down The Strip on one of these babies? The distance between Las Vegas hotels can be deceiving, so this might be the next best thing to a limo ride to keep those dogs from barking.

Based upon our extensive 12 minutes of research, the Solowheel was developed by inventor Shane Chen in Washington state, weighs about 24 pounds, can move up to 10 miles and hour, and a charge lasts about an hour.

We called around, and it doesn’t appear any of the local tour companies offer Solowheel rentals at the moment, but we figure it’s just a matter of time, and we’ll be the first in line to give one a test ride.
