Crusing Tracy Arm on Regent Seven Seas Mariner

The weather doesn’t always cooperate in Alaska. At least, that’s what Alan and I discovered when Regent Seven Seas Mariner spent a morning cruising Tracy Arm on the way to Juneau. The light had an eerie glow to it as Mariner sailed through Stephens Passage into Holkham Bay and up the narrow fjord named for Civil War hero Benjamin Franklin Tracy. Gray clouds streaked overhead dropping intermittent splatters of rain while icebergs colored a glacial blue bobbed in the water below. Thin-ribboned waterfalls streaked down the steep sides of the fjord, sometimes partially obscured by an ethereal mist. On this early September sailing, we were the only ship cruising Tracy Arm. It was just us, icebergs and waterfalls – a fine boomer travel experience indeed.

Did your cruise ship visit this part of Alaska? Post a comment to share your experience. It looks like Keith Jenkins of Velvet Escape had better weather when his InnerSea Discoveries ship spent time cruising Tracy Arm. The photos make us want to go back.
