Thanks to the efforts of the Howelsen Hill Centennial Committee, the Steamboat Springs City Council, the Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club, local and regional granting agencies, and the scores of community and parent volunteers and donors, the project to construct the HS45 Year Round Ski Jump is in full swing at Howelsen Hill.  The project is being funded by grants from Great Outdoors Colorado, the Yampa Valley Community Foundation, Rotary Club, the Steamboat Ski & Resort Corporation Recreation Fund, Colorado Group Realty Foundation, Gates Family Foundation and the Kettering Family Foundation, as well as City matching funds and many private donations.

The City anticipates finishing the project by the time the snow flies this next winter.  When completed, the HS45 Ski Jump’s plastic surface will be sprayed with water which enables skiers to slide on the surface, and will allow intermediate level youth to jump at Howelsen Hill in Steamboat Springs in the summer months as well as the winter.  This will provide the training young athletes need to be competitive on a national and international basis.  It will also attract athletes from around the world to come to Steamboat Springs to train.

During construction this summer, the trails at Howelsen Hill will be open for hiking and bicycling, however users will need to use alternative routes in some cases.  Please be aware of and follow these signed detours.
