Yesterday, we learned that Sierra Vista state rep. David Gowan is ready to introduce Tom Horne’s “Principal as SWAT Team” legislation, the one that would “train” a principal or other school employee to pack heat and stop the madman killer.
Today, we learn that Laurie Roberts’ Kookacracy is itching to go. Nancy Barto and Debbie Lesko will sponsor legislation based on pseudoscience and hearsay. In other words, Republican logic.
Seems that a few would-be foster parents (God bless anyone who takes on that role) can’t be eligible because they don’t immunize their own kids, thus leaving foster kids more susceptible to various diseases (you can read the full article here).
The parents say that if they have “genuine medical reasons” for not immunizing their own kids, they should be able to be foster parents.
Of course, some of the parents have an interesting definition of “genuine medical reasons.” Says one, ”We’re being selective. I just don’t think that they’re all necessary right now. My own research led me to do that.”
Her own research. Of course. And I’ll bet that “research” consists of all the horror stories told on the ‘net.
But despite no real science revealing the dangers of immunization, our intrepid legislators are ready to act.
The Kookacracy lives on, ready to fight another day, making Arizona what it is to the rest of the nation: The Petri Dish of
Weirdness.
