In terms of the optics for tonight’s VP debate, I’m not sure what was more off putting, Joe Biden’s condescending, hyena-like smile, or Paul Ryan’s smarmy Eddie Haskell persona. Your pick.
In terms of substance, though, it was clear that Biden’s job was to be attack dog. And he mostly succeeded.
The most telling point of the debate? When the Detroit bailout came up. Biden pointed out that Romney had called GM and Chrysler to simply go into bankruptcy.
Ryan’s response was a disaster: Instead of responding to Biden’s comment, he told us of Romney’s personal generosity.
Which, as Biden pointed out, is admirable. But irrelevant to the Detroit bailout. And how many millions would’ve suffered had Obama taken Biden’s direction on Detroit.
Sure, Romney’s a charitable guy. And Joe Arpaio’s a loving husband.
