I understand that the AZ Republic is committed to the illegal immigrants and sworn to unseat Joe Arpaio. But, to advance the premise that the killing of Border Patrol Officer Ivie is not a political issue, in addition to being a personal tragedy for his family, friends and Arizonans in general, is to insult us all.

Of course, Governor Brewer was right to emphasize that, regardless of what Mr. Obama, Janet Napolitano and Eric Holder contends our Southern border is as dangerous as it has ever been. In addition, contrary to what this administration would like us to believe, Mexico has lost total control of its border and Cartel violence is slowing spreading across Southern Arizona. The proof is there for all to see, when our government designates areas of our own country as no-man’s lands, complete with warnings to stay away. That is disgusting and a failure of our Federal government to fulfill the very basic promise of our Constitution, the reason for government to exist, “…to insure Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence (sic), promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty…”

When the command structure fails, it’s time to change commanders.
