One of Sheriff Arpaio’s slickly produced and effective commercials concerns the Sheriff’s concern for our four-legged friends.
In the spot, we learn that Arpaio’s received awards from folks like the Humane Society for his animal protection. Well and fine.
But as I watched that spot, I was reminded of the hundreds of sexual assault victims Arpaio chose to ignore, some of whom were kids. And I guess I wish Arpaio had as much concern for those human victims as the animal ones.
Not so funny is that his well-produced ads will be effective in changing the subject. They allow his supporters to say, “See, Joe’s our man!” And ignore his extraordinary abuse and neglect of his office.
So . . . .
Where are Penzone’s ads? It’s 40-something days from election day, just a few days from early voting, and silence from Penzone.
Here’s hoping Penzone’s ready to blitz the airwaves with ads in the next five weeks. And even then, we probably have another four years of that phony.
Ugh.
