Rich Guy Wil Cardon made a $7.5 million error: He would campaign as an outsider against the quintessential outsider.
He tried to mimic the successful campaigns of others around the country who defeated established incumbents. Which worked when the incumbent could be framed as a “big spender” who was part of the problem in D.C.
But to try to run a campaign like that against Jeff Flake? Really?
Flake’s always been on the out’s with the Congressional insiders, always picking at the wasteful spending in Washington.
So Cardon had no chance. And almost 8 million dollars later, he seems to have figured that out, apparently no longer airing ads nor making many public appearances (though he’s out in Sun City tomorrow).
Nope, Cardon’s campaign was over before he even started.
