Three cheers for reason
Today Governor Brewer expressed a clear, logical, and totally appropriate expectation. The legislature needs to send her a budget before she’ll deal with any additional bills beyond what is currently on her desk.
The Governor recognizes that the budget is the framework for every other policy choice state leaders make. Elected officials most basic mandate is to pass a balanced budget annually. The budget is the scaffolding that holds up statewide public policy. If that isn’t complete, everything else is simply putting the cart before the horse.
