Rick Santorum must be feeling his oats these days, given that he’s veered his campaign into all kinds of social issues, including the phony “Obama War on Religion.”
Of course, his attacks cut both ways, because now the media are investigating Santorum’s history on social issues.
And it’s, ahem, interesting.
In fact, he’s gone on the attack about religion before: Against other religions.
In a 2008 speech, Santorum warned of Satan “setting his sights” on America. In fact, according to Santorum, the Devil had already conquered “academia” (you can read about it here).
And was looking elsewhere: At Protestant denominations.
Which, according to Santorum, when “we look at the shape of mainline Protestantism in this country, it is in shambles. It is gone from the world of Christianity, as I see it.”
Well.
I’d like to hear Rick expand on that claim. Maybe at the debate tonight?
