Obama’s defenders in the recent dust-up over Catholics and conscience claim it is necessary to over-ride religious beliefs in order to ensure women’s access to “reproductive services”.  Employees of Catholic schools, universities and social service agencies are subject to unwanted pregnancies unless the government steps in to protect them from the misguided.

I checked on the Internet.  The BCP Brevicon was $142 for a year’s supply.  Allesse was $146.  A Copper T IUD would set you back $68 and lasts a while although it had to be inserted by a doctor.

Are Americans really so flaccid and dependent that unless someone else pays the $140-150 it takes to prevent pregnancy for a year, they just go ahead and get pregnant and abort or whatever?  That’s ridiculous.  Sure, it’s nice to have your employer buy you stuff, but I wouldn’t think employed women are seeing their access to services blocked at these price levels.

The main issue of course is that government shouldn’t trample on religious freedoms, period.  But this is a particularly foolish case for Obama and the Lefties to break their pick over.
